The gondolas that adorn Venice photographs, one of the reasons many tourists come to Venice and crown the “City of Love” have been removed.
Gondoliers, which have been on the agenda for a while with complaints of arm and elbow pain by gondolas, were removed with the statement of Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro. Luigi Brugnaro said that instead of rowed gondolas, electric gondolas will come.
Gondoliers said that driving a gondola with one arm on narrow roads in the scorching heat was crippling, even dead. The Mayor reported that electric gondolas have arrived and test drives have started. When the rowing gondolas were lifted, the gondoliers took a sigh of relief.
