
Ursula Von Der Leyen, President of the European Union (EU) Commission, said that they see Ukraine as their own and they want to include it in the EU in time.
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Union (EU) Commission, told Euronews television channel headquartered in Lyon, France, that Ukraine is in the process of integration into the EU market.
“There are so many issues that we work very closely together.”
Stating that there is a very close cooperation between Ukraine and the EU on energy networks, von der Leyen said, “There are many issues on which we work very closely together.”
Von Der Leyen pointed out that Ukraine will become a part of the EU in time and said, “They are one of us and we want to let them in.”
“It is important for the Ukrainian side to have good conditions.”
Von Der Leyen, regarding possible peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, said, “Of course, it is important that the Ukrainian side accepts the peace talks and that the conditions are good for the Ukrainian side.”
Von der Leyen pointed out that they would always prefer peace talks to war, “However, the trust in Russian President Vladimir Putin has been completely broken and worn out.”
