
Ukraine’s capital, Kiev, woke up to the day with heavy bombing attacks. Ukraine announced that a Russian plane was shot down in Kiev. A warm statement came from the Council of Europe during the war, when the civilian population was calling for help.
Council of Europe: Critical decision from the Committee of Ministers “The process has been started to suspend Russia’s membership.”
The Council noted that Russia still remains a member of the Council of Europe and is still a party to the relevant Council of Europe conventions, including the European Convention on Human Rights. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also stated that the procedure for suspending Russia’s membership of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe was initiated upon the initiative of Ukraine and Poland.
According to the Financial Times, the EU announced that it is preparing to freeze the assets of Russian President Vladimir Putin and foreign minister Sergei Lavrov as part of the third round of sanctions against Russia.
