Amazon founder Jeff Bezos announced at the 2021 UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) that she will give $ 2 billion to combat climate change.

Bezos, who has repeatedly stated in her previous speeches that the biggest threat to the planet is climate change, said during the conference, “Today, I am pleased to announce a $ 2 billion commitment directly allocated to restoring nature and transforming food systems.”

THE FIRST SECTION OF THE 10 BILLION DOLLARS GRANT PROGRAM

The $2 billion commitment will be made as part of a $10 billion larger commitment from the Amazon founder’s grant program, the Bezos Earth Fund, to combat climate change.

“By 2030, we must improve nature, advance environmental justice and economic opportunity,” Jeff Bezos said in her speech on the subject.

“INVESTING IN NATURE IS ESSENTIAL”

Continuing his speech, Bezos continued, “Our commitment today supports three imperatives: we must protect what we have, recover what we have lost, and grow what we need in harmony with nature.” It is essential to invest in nature with both traditional and innovative approaches.

“1 BILLION DOLLARS TO BE SENT TO AFRICA”

In a press release released after Bezos’ speech, it was stated that half of the $2 billion commitment will be devoted to landscape restoration efforts that began in Africa, which “will include planting trees on degraded land, revitalizing grasslands and integrating trees into farmland.”
The remaining $1 billion will “help transform food and agriculture systems in a way that supports life without degrading the planet,” the statement said.
